Hood to Coast Relay Races Through Town, Leaving Runners in Its Wake
Runners Ahead: 2024 Hood to Coast Passed Through Town
The annual Hood to Coast relay race, which spans 199 miles from Mount Hood to Seaside, Oregon, made its way through town on Friday, August 25, 2023. The race, which began in 1982, is the world's largest relay race, with over 12,000 runners participating in 2023.
The race is divided into 36 legs, with each leg ranging from 3 to 8 miles. Runners of all ages and abilities participate, from elite runners to recreational runners. The race is a challenging but rewarding experience, and it is a great way to see the beautiful Oregon coast.
This year's race was particularly special, as it marked the 40th anniversary of the event. To celebrate, the race organizers added a new leg to the course, which took runners through the town of Cannon Beach. The new leg was a challenging one, with runners having to climb a steep hill, but it was also a beautiful one, with runners being treated to stunning views of the Pacific Ocean.
The 2024 Hood to Coast relay race will be held on August 23-24, 2024. Registration for the race is now open, and runners are encouraged to sign up early to secure their spot.
